Join us for Dance Community Night on\u202f<\/span>Thursday,<\/span><\/b>\u202f<\/span><\/b>April 16, 2026<\/span><\/b>,<\/span>\u202f<\/span>at\u202f<\/span>New York City Center<\/span><\/b>\u202flocated at\u202f<\/span>131 W. 55th Street (between 6th and 7th avenues) New York, NY 10019<\/span><\/b>!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Expect an epic night! <\/span>Doors open at 6:30pm<\/span><\/b>\u202fwith a\u202f<\/span>Dance Party\u202f<\/span><\/b>with\u202f<\/span>DTH Alum Preston Dugger DJ Duggz<\/span><\/b> and <\/span>a special dancer focused pre-show welcome with<\/span>\u202fArtistic Director Robert Garland<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u202f<\/span> The performance begins at 7:30pm <\/span><\/b>and the dance party continues after the show!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The evening begins with<\/span> Blake<\/i> Works IV (The Barre Project<\/i><\/strong>)<\/strong>, choreographed by William Forsythe<\/strong> and <\/span>created specifically for Dance Theatre of<\/span>\u202f<\/span>Harlem, set to the electro-soul music of British composer James Blake<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Next, <\/span>Passage of Being<\/i><\/strong>,<\/span> a poignant reflection on love, connection, and the power of the present, <\/span>choreography by Jodie Gates<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The program continues with DTH Artistic Director Robert Garland\u2019s <\/strong><\/span>New Bach<\/i><\/strong>, <\/span>a classic example of Garland\u2019s, \u201cpost-modern-urban neoclassicism\u201d style blending classical form with a contemporary edge.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Closing out the evening will be the DTH signature classic <\/span>Firebird<\/i><\/strong>, <\/span>where a Russian folk tale about the triumph of love over evil is reimagined in a luscious Caribbean setting. John Taras\u2019<\/strong> choreography, paired with Stravinsky\u2019s<\/strong> iconic score, comes to life through the inimitable multihyphenated Geoffrey Holder\u2019s<\/strong> vibrant sets and costumes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
