Join us on\u202f<\/span>Sunday, April 19, 2026,<\/span><\/b>\u202fat\u202f<\/span>3 PM<\/span><\/b>\u202ffor our\u202f<\/span>Meet the Ballerina Matinee<\/span><\/b>, a great experience for adults, families, and young people. <\/span>Doors open at 2:00pm<\/span><\/b>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Begin the afternoon with our pre-show celebration featuring <\/span>a\u202f<\/span>Dance Party\u202f<\/span><\/b>with\u202f<\/span>DTH Alum Preston Dugger DJ Duggz<\/span><\/b> in the Grand Tier Lobby. Then, immerse yourself in our extraordinary program.<\/span><\/p>\n

The program begins with<\/span> Blake<\/i> Works IV (The Barre Project<\/i><\/strong>), choreographed by William Forsythe<\/strong> and <\/span>created specifically for Dance Theatre of<\/span>\u202f<\/span>Harlem, set to the electro-soul music of British composer James Blake.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Next, <\/span>Passage of Being<\/strong><\/span><\/i>,<\/span> a poignant reflection on love, connection, and the power of the present, <\/span>choreography by Jodie Gates<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The program continues with\u00a0Nyman String Quartet No. 2<\/strong><\/i>,\u00a0set to\u00a0Michael\u202fNyman\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0\u201cString Quartet No.2,\u201d\u00a0choreographed by\u00a0DTH Artistic Director\u00a0Robert Garland<\/strong>.\u00a0Complex and witty, this sophisticated work shows off the unique capacity of the company\u2019s artists to code-switch with abandon.<\/span><\/p>\n

Closing out the evening will be the DTH signature classic <\/span>Firebird<\/i><\/strong>, <\/span>where a Russian folk tale about the triumph of love over evil is reimagined in a luscious Caribbean setting. John Taras\u2019<\/strong> choreography, paired with Stravinsky\u2019s iconic score, comes to life through the inimitable multihyphenated Geoffrey Holder\u2019s<\/strong> vibrant sets and costumes.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After the curtain falls, the magic continues with our<\/span>\u202f<\/span>Meet the Ballerina event, where dance enthusiasts can meet and take pictures with the stars of Dance Theatre of Harlem. Whether you are looking to inspire a young person\u2019s love for ballet or if you are craving an afternoon for yourself, this is a program that will ignite your spirit.
